BPG receives a grant from Brooklyn Community Foundation that will allow for growth

Brooklyn Parkinson Group has been awarded a one year $10,000 grant from Brooklyn Community Foundation.  The award, to be matched with BPG funds, will enable BPG to strengthen its Board and organizational capacity, needed in order to serve the  increasing numbers of persons with Parkinson’s Disease and their families now attending BPG programs.

“BPG welcomes anyone with PD and their families to join our classes and support groups,” says Executive Director Olie Westheimer.  “The grant gives BPG the opportunity to plan how best to grow in order to serve a widespread audience.  Our current classes are filled. Students are mostly from Brooklyn, but many make their way to Brooklyn from Manhattan, Queens,  the Bronx and New Jersey.”  The grant will also enable BPG to streamline its administration.

Brooklyn Parkinson Group is an independent non-profit organization whose mission is to provide community-based arts, exercise and education programs to encourage persons with PD to remain active within their communities. Toward that end BPG has forged.
